YOUR HOSTS

Geoff Collinson

Aeyons Founder

After 10 years as principal horn with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra and guest principal with many other orchestras in Australia and overseas, Geoff found his true calling as a teacher and was tenured as Head of Brass at The University of Melbourne for over 6 years.

10 years ago, the digital world provided opportunities to solve problems of geographical isolation in music education and Geoff used this opportunity to leave my tenured position.

Geoff says, “I have never been more creative than through solving business problems.”

What he learned by being a musician about overcoming fears on the concert stage, embracing the preparation required, and how focusing on his passion for knowledge quelled his negative thoughts, has taken him to where he is today – at an intersection of the creative world and the business world, and in a unique position to help others on their journey.

Gérard Patacca

Aeyons CEO

Gérard Patacca is on a mission to make instrumental music education more accessible to everyone. A professional French Horn player and teacher before moving into management, Gérard is passionate about the importance of music education.

As a student he benefited enormously from membership of the Canberra and Australian Youth Orchestras and became the 1987 Canberra School of Music Graduate of the Year. He was offered study grants from the Australian and German Governments, studied in Germany with renowned teachers and played with the Jeunesses Musicales World Youth Orchestra and the Schleswig Holstein Festival Orchestra. Professional engagements followed with opera and symphonic orchestras such as the State Orchestra of Baden in Karlsruhe and the Radio Symphony Orchestra Saarbrücken; he was also a member of Helmuth Rilling’s Bach Collegium Stuttgart. After his return to Australia, he held contracts with six of Australia’s professional orchestras and taught at the Sydney Conservatorium.

Pursuing a role in management, Gérard completed a graduate leadership program with the Federal Government. He joined the management team of the Opera Australia Orchestra in 2007, becoming OA’s General Manager, Orchestra in 2011 until joining Aeyons in 202

Kates Hargreaves

MusicEDU Founder & CEO

Kate studied music from an early age, and after completing a degree in music performance, majoring in trombone at the Sydney Conservatorium, she began her career performing with companies including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Opera Ballet Orchestra, and many more before moving into more corporate roles, working for Yamaha Music Australia and Casio.

With a vision to engage students in classroom music in a way they’d find enjoyable and rewarding, Kate launched MusicEDU in 2011. Her goal continues to be achieved internationally as we integrate progressive teaching techniques and technology into secondary and middle schools using The MusicEDU Suite.

Heather Crawford

Head Teacher of Performing Arts - Engadine High School, AUS & MusicEDU Content Creator

As a music educator for over two decades, Heather has a wealth of experience and expertise in the classroom and beyond. She is particularly enthusiastic about video game music and was commissioned to create GameComposer for the MusicEDU Suite.

As well as being a faculty leader and educator, Heather is a busy performer, tutor and conductor. She enjoys working with young musicians as they find their performance pathways and acknowledges the challenges faced finding the best resources that support and accelerate their development.

Heather has been a long-time user and supporter of MusicEDU, and we are proud to have her join us for this wonderful new webinar, connecting students with music educators across the world

The Aeyons technology establishes a connection to my students that feels REAL. Often continents away, it sounds like they are playing in front of me. Aeyons makes my online teaching as effective as working face to face.”

Daniel Röhn

Violin Soloist

“Drums and Cymbals are so complex in their harmonics and density that most platforms like Zoom can’t handle it. It just distorts! Somehow the Aeyons team have got around all of that.”

David Jones

Drums & Percussion Soloist
